Zhengzhou Non-ferrous Metals Research Institute Co., Ltd. of Chinalco(ZRI)
Established in 1965, is a key national research base for the development of new technologies, processes, materials, and equipment in China’s aluminium and magnesium industries. It also serves as a hub for fundamental research and the incubation and transformation of original technological innovations. ZRI has led or participated in the development of major technologies such as 280 kA large-scale aluminum electrolysis, diasporic bauxite pipeline digestion, Bayer process alumina production from beneficiated bauxite, and magnesium extraction from carnallite, all of which have significantly advanced the technological progress of China’s aluminium and magnesium industries. Its current R&D scope includes bauxite, alumina, primary aluminum, high-purity aluminum, magnesium smelting, digital industrial applications, and high-performance alumina-based materials.
China National Engineering Research Center for Aluminum Metallurgy
Established in 2003 with approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, is a national-level research base in the field of aluminium smelting technologies. Affiliated with ZRI, the center focuses on tackling key and common technical challenges in China’s aluminium industry and promotes the engineering transformation of new technologies, processes, materials, and equipment.
Guangxi Branch of Chinalco
Established in 2002, Guangxi Branch of Chinalco is a state-of-the-art production facility with an annual output of 6 million tonnes of bauxite and 2.4 million tonnes of alumina. It stands as one of China’s most advanced and innovative production bases.
Guangxi Hualei New Materials Co., Ltd
Established in 2015, Guangxi Hualei New Material Co., Ltd. is an integrated enterprise specializing in primary aluminum production, power generation, and aluminum processing. With an annual capacity of 400 000 tonnes of primary aluminum, it leverages cutting-edge 500 kA cell technology, setting a benchmark for excellence in the aluminum industry.
Central South University (CSU)
is a leading Chinese university and a key member of "Project 211," "Project 985," and "Plan 2011." Designated as an A-level world-class university in 2017 and reaffirmed in the "Double First-Class" initiative in 2022, CSU ranked 94th in the 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), with its Metallurgical Engineering leading globally. Renowned for its expertise in non-ferrous metals, CSU is a global hub for talent and innovation.
Northeastern University(NEU)
Founded in 1923, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and a "Double First-Class" initiative institution in China, ranking among the top 40 universities nationwide. Renowned for its engineering disciplines, the university houses three State Key Laboratories and four National Engineering Centers. Established in 1951, is China's first state-owned design institute. Guiyang Aluminum and Magnesium Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (GAMI)
As a core technical force in the field of international light metal smelting engineering,Guiyang Aluminum Magnesium Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (GAMI), established in 1958, is promoting actively the high-quality development of the global light metal industry. With a comprehensive & excellent technological innovation system, GAMI focuses on the continuous innovation of alumina, electrolytic aluminum, carbon for aluminum, titanium-magnesium joint production, as well as new energy negative electrode materials, intelligent equipment, environmental protection and other fields. National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Aluminum Magnesium Electrolysis Facilities (NECAME)
Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in December 2011,was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in December 2011. Anchored in the strategic development needs of the domestic and international aluminium and magnesium smelting industries, the center focuses on the engineering research, assimilation, integration, incubation, pilot testing, and industrialization of aluminium and magnesium smelting equipment technologies. Its core mission is to address the industry’s demands for energy conservation, consumption reduction, and emission mitigation through targeted R&D initiatives.
